Nike

Bob Boyl and Bob Ames are past employees of Nike Retail. Since leaving Nike, B&A has continued to support Nike as out-sourced construction project managers on several major projects. These include the complete remodel of Nike's Seattle and Beverly Hills Niketown projects, Nike's new Field House store in the Mall of America in Minneapolis and, more recently, the expansion and remodel of Nike's Niketown store located in Caesar’s Forum Shops in Las Vegas.

The Caesar’s Forum conversion entailed the complete remodel of the existing store and expansion into an adjoining 6,000sf ground floor space. Additionally, a second floor of 6,000sf was added to the expansion space. The combined floor area of the existing and expansion space made this the largest retail selling area Nike has in North America to date at 56,498sf.

The project was multi-faceted and complex with staged construction and store openings. Initially, the expansion space was demolished and a new second floor built. Once complete, work started on the interior build-out of the ground floor of the expansion space and the third floor was remodeled. Adding to the complexity of the project, major structural modifications had to be made to the existing store to improve customer 'sight-lines'.

The goal was to complete all work concurrent with a 'soft' opening of the ground floor in May 2011. During this process, the existing store remained open. Once the ground floor of the expansion space opened, the existing store was closed until the entire store could be reopened. The ground floor of the expansion space remained opened until a week prior to the grand opening. The store reopened to the public with a re-grand opening on July 28, 2011.

B&A’s responsibility was very comprehensive and included managing the selection process for the General Contractor, awarding the project, negotiating the general contractor contract, and administering it through construction. Responsibilities also included managing the capital budget and schedule, design, and the on-going interface and coordination with the Nike Store Development team, Nike vendors, and store operations.
